Bangalore - Excerpts from the NCRB ( National Crime Records Bureau) report 2007 says number of married men's suicide is more in comparison to married women.

Wife's torture & harassment are the main reasons that drive married men to commit suicide claims Men's Rights NGO's. To address this critical issues these NGO are demanding the government to setup a Men's Welfare Ministry and a National Commission for Men.

Last year alone 57,593 married men and 30,064 married women have committed suicide. This is an increase of 3.87% of married men and 0.65% married women.

In 2006 16,500 married men have committed suicide but last year the men's suicide has increase double-fold, between 1996-2006 one Lakh and 40 thousand married men have committed suicide.

On this topic "Save Indian Family Foundation" representative Anil Gorky states " Family disputes specifically Wife's harassment, quarrels, snatching children away are the key reasons that drive husband's to commit suicide.

Only a negligible percentage of husband's commit suicide due to economic or financial reasons, many victims who have approached him for counseling state that their wife harassment as the main reasons for their depression during his advisory calls.

So due to the increase in men's suicide men's welfare ministry and national commission for men must be constituted by the central/union government similar to women's welfare ministry,
