BANGALORE: Sweeping changes for marital laws was demanded by Save Indian Family Foundation (SIFF), an NGO for men’s rights. The president Pandurang Katti said here on Friday, there are too many laws that can be used to file cases against husbands for the same crime, including Domestic Violence Act and 498A (Dowry harassment) case. “These (laws) need to be reduced to one,” he said. Katti said the process, from filing a case till resolving, is tedious, and causes harassment to the husbands and their families. He said there is a need to simplify proceedings and thatthere is a need to change the judiciary's attitude when dealing with family disputes. He said in many cases husbands face mental torture, it is often blamed on men.
