"Men to be protected from Women… Protection Steps to be taken" -NGO demand on behalf on Victmised MenBangalore - Non-Governmental Organization are demanding the government to Protect men from Women. Save Indian Family Foundation representative Kumar Jagirdhar tells us that - Suicide is on the Rise In India there are many laws, legislations and organization to protect women, but there is not a single law to protect the men. Due to family disputes men suicide has increased. Every year there is significant increase in the number of suicide committed by married men. Only 0.65% increase is seen in the suicide committed by women wereas the married men suicide has skyrocketed to 3.87%.Harassment Not all men are empowered and holding high offices, this percentage is only one percentage Because of this scenario the remaining 99% of men are being harassment by wife and her parents. Even in police station they accept and issue process only for complaints given by women and police don't come forward to look into complaints given by men. Even divorce proceeding is totally biased in favour to the women, in many cases the child custody is given to the mother and father are denied even visitation rights. When a father approaches the children out of his love, the mother's books the husband/father in kidnapping cases. Like this in many other ways men are being victimized and undergo depression and mental agony and as a last resort choose suicide due to these forced circumstances created by the wife. We are not opposing women, what we are asking is the government is to make Men's right equal to women's rights. Demands If men's agony and pain is to be removed from this society the government has to act upon by establishing men's welfare ministry just like women's welfare ministry. In addition a National Commission for Men to understand the problems faced by men and recommend government with required legislatives. In every budget there should be funds allocated specific for men's welfare and government needs to give top priority to men's issues. National Level debate is the need of the hour to present gender equality between Men and Women. Currently in Family Court the cruelty on men/fathers has reached the pinnacle heights, werein fathers are granted 30 min visitation in a month, the father-child relationship treated like weekend TV serials which needs to be abolished. Legal Counseling Our NGO is spread across the country, and our helpline are present in most of the cities, if there be a distress call from a husband or his relatives of being harassed by his wife, we provide legal counseling to deal with the situation to bring in peace in their lives. During this interview along with Kumar Jagirdhar, Sivasankara, Babu Sankar and Amba Dass who had been victimsed by his wife were present. |
