Kendrapara: While it is common for a woman to be subject of torture at the hands of her husband or in-laws, it is very rare when a husband falls prey to the wife’s cruelty and torture. Such a rare case has recently come to the fore in the coastal Kendrapara district. A man unable to bear the cruelty of his wife lodged an FIR against her in the police station and the police consequently arrested the woman and the court sent her to judicial custody. The matter came to the fore on Saturday, when one Sheikh Amiruddin of Jaipura village lodged an FIR against his divorced wife Ansari Begum at Kendrapara town police station alleging that she assaulted him physically and mentally even after their talaq and staying separately. According to Sethy, it was found after police investigation that Amiruddin had tied knot with Ansari Begum few years ago and the couple had two children. But, Ansari allegedly used to create disturbance in the family most of the time without any reason and also used to assault her husband physically. He ultimately decided to file petition in the court for divorce. After the talaq, the husband and wife started staying separately. But since the last few days, Ansari started visiting his house, quarreled and even assaulted him several times. Unable to bear the torture, he lodged an FIR in the police station on Saturday. Later, acting on the FIR of the victim husband, police conducted an inquiry and arrested Ansari Begum. The woman was produced before the SDJM court of Kendrapara on Saturday under Section-448, 293, 323 and 506 of IPC, but the court rejected the bail petition of the arrested woman and remanded her to judicial custody, informed the IIC of Kendrapara town police station. |
