Delhi Problem
Men’s Movement has got a Delhi Problem.
The city of Delhi has a unique culture, which makes it very difficult to partner, collaborate or build trusting relationships. In this city, people are less likely to respect a contract, MOU or a verbal agreement. They often surprise the other parties by violating terms of agreements and even manipulating the facts and circumstances.
In short, it is a city that has a culture which thrives on Win-Lose games. If you play a win-win game with such a culture, you will almost always end up with a loss.
This is a very short sighted culture. People of this city suffer due to this mindset. During Covid pandemic, a lot of people in Delhi died because of false promised made by many people, who tried to make a business out of Oxygen cylinders and Oxygen concentrators. There was acute shortage, but this negative attitude made the problem much worse than other cities.
The resources in Men’s Movement are very limited. Due to this reason, any risks of betrayal or sabotage can seriously hurt any team. Once various groups of Men’s Activists figured this out, they decide to stop investing their trust on any team in this city.
Any activity needs certain amount of professionalism. Unprofessional behavior, lack of planning, showing overconfidence and deliberately postponing the tasks to last minute can easily get on anyone’s nerve. However, this is very normal in Delhi. You may often hear the dreaded statement, “Do not worry, ho jayega (It will be done).” This basically translates to, “Please worry a lot, because nothing will be done till the last minute.”
It gets further worse because Delhi is the center of Indian politics and Indian TV News industry. So, it is easy for people of this city to dream of being an influencer or a politician. They may fail miserably, but this greed itself can destroy any chances of good quality team work.
As men’s movement works on shoestring budgets, Delhi can be more of a burden than a strength. When many people are rude, disrespectful and untrustworthy, there will be very less positive outcomes.
North Indian men are worse off than men in other parts of India. Put in another words, whenever any activism is carried out, men in Delhi or North India are more likely to benefit out of it than men in other parts of India. In these circumstances taking others for granted or trying to exploit others can do serious damage to men of these cities on a long run.
